The pleasure of reading

BOOKSHELF FULL OF BOOKS

During the meeting in Poland we exchanged the texts from our national literature which we would like our friends at partner schools to know. In order not to collide with copyrights we had read the texts ourselves and then retold them to our friends. The retelling was held in English and everybody then at their own school translated them into their native languages. We are aware of the fact that the composition that was created as a result is not absolutely faithful to its original. But what was important was the fact that it could be treated as our own. The way pleasure reading is included in activities in a Norwegian school (illustrated by examples from Partners' schools)

Every week the children go to the school-library to borrow books either to read at school or at home. From year 1 they learn how to use the library.
In special lessons during the week, the elder students read books for the younger students.
The children make a recommendation of the books he/she has read. These recommendations are laying in the classroom for everyone to read. They are also put in the homepage of our school.
Some classes make a performance/puppetshow from time to time. This is shown for all the other students. The content is Norwegian literature.
Every half year an author visits our school. He/she reads from his/her books, tells about his books and how it is to be an author. In advance the students have read a lot of his/her books.
Some of great artists have special idea about Terje Vigen. Next year will be "The Ibsen Year".
