WHO WRITES AND READS FOR US?

|
Mrs. Elzbieta Palasz
is the mother of one
of our students
and also writes
books for children.
|
|
Mrs. Anita Glowinska
read her book
"Mela" to us at the Baltic
Leisure Centre during
"Tuesday meetings
with a Book for
our youngest".
|

|
Grandmo Hinc paid a visit to her
granddaughter's class on
Grandmother's Day in order
to read a book to the children.
|

|
Mrs. Siri E.Mohr is the head teacher at
a primary school in Oslo and also
writes books for children. Her books
are to do with the island of Hesnes
near Grimstad. We visited the island
in May 2005. We found out from
the Internet that in May 2006
Mrs. Siri E.Mohr was going to read
books for children in Grimstad. We are
not able to be there, but would like
to ask our kind friends from Frivoll
skole to relate the event to us.

THE INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN'S BOOK DAY - 2nd APRIL
|
Since 2005 Poles will always associate 2nd April
with pope John Paul II. But others also have
rights to this day and therefore we recognize
the fact that since 1967, 2nd April (Hans Christian
Andersen's birthday) is celebrated as the
International Children's Book Day.
It aims at developing in parents and children
sensitivity to books and their role in life.
Every year a representative from a different
country has a chance to be a sponsor and
organiser of this celebration. A poster
and a motto are designed for this purpose
and their author is a different person
every year and such a nomination is a great
honour for them. At schools, libraries,
leisure centres in many countries meetings with children's
book writers are held in order to present and promote them.

WE LIKE READING AND LISTENING
I remember from my childhood little books that said "Read to me mom" on the back cover.
I learned to read quickly, but I remember I took a book and, coming up, showed this
inscription to my mother. All children like to be read to. In spite of the decades past,
today I can hear Irena Kwiatkowska when on the radio she read book "The Alien".
The "Read to me Mom" campaign gave way to Reading Poland.
WE READ BOOKS ABOUT CATS
Oscar Wilde said: "People are divided into
those who love cats and those hurt by the fate".
It seems to be a sufficient reason why we draw
your attention to books devoted to cats.
The cat is a very popular character in literature.
Who wrote and what about cats? Hopefully we
will be able to gather at least a bit of such
information here. See also what cats have crossed
our way during our international meetings.
